Mets manager Buck Showalter got his first look at Jacob deGrom on Tuesday evening and proceeded to describe his five strikeout performance as “pretty good.” He’s anxious to see how deGrom feels the day after his outing. Showalter also liked what he saw from Adam Ottavino, who could be a key bullpen addition. He provided a quick update on the progression of Starling Marte’s recovery from a strained oblique and how the Mets will handle the New York city vaccine mandate.
