Posey makes Giants playoff history with homer in Game 1 originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea

Buster Posey‘s early home run against the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 1 of the National League Division Series made some franchise history.

Posey’s home run off Walker Buehler got the Giants ahead in the bottom of the first inning.

It was Posey’s first home run in the postseason since Game 4 of the 2012 World Series, when the former NL MVP went deep off former Detroit Tiger and current Dodger pitcher Max Scherzer. The blast helped the Giants sweep the Tigers and complete a sweep of the World Series for the franchise’s second title in three years.

The home run also was the first of Buehler’s career on a 3-0 count.

What a way to start off the playoffs for Posey, who was an integral piece of the Giants’ high-powered offense throughout the 2021 season.

Clearly the veteran is locked in as Game 1 roars on at Oracle Park.
