Through 3 Quarters

The Miami Heat typically have all the answers at home, but the Boston Celtics are posing a tough problem. Three quarters in and the Celtics’ offense has really been able to impose its will, dominating Miami 94-71 three quarters in.

Boston has been riding high on the performance of shooting guard Jaylen Brown, who has 25 points in addition to four rebounds. Shooting guard Max Strus (18 points) has been the top scorer for the Heat.

Halftime deficits have spelled doom for Miami, who have lost 79% of the games in which they were down going into the the fourth quarter.

What to Know

After a four-game homestand, the Miami Heat will be on the road. They will square off against the Boston Celtics at 7:30 p.m. ET Monday at TD Garden. Boston should still be feeling good after a victory, while the Heat will be looking to regain their footing.

Miami fought the good fight in their overtime game against the Toronto Raptors this past Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result, falling 124-120. Point guard Tyler Herro had a rough night: he played for 44 minutes with 5-for-22 shooting and five turnovers.

Meanwhile, the Celtics were able to grind out a solid win over the New Orleans Pelicans this past Saturday, winning 107-97. It was another big night for Boston’s small forward Jayson Tatum, who had 38 points and seven assists in addition to eight boards.

Miami is expected to lose this next one by 6.5. However, those who like betting on the underdog should be happy to hear that they are 9-2 against the spread when expected to lose.

Miami is now 32-18 while Boston sits at 26-25. A couple defensive numbers to keep in mind before tip-off: The Heat come into the matchup boasting the fourth fewest points allowed per game in the league at 104.5.
