Bote undergoes surgery on previously dislocated shoulder originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago
Bote dislocated his shoulder on a slide into second base in May. He went on the injured list and missed two months, rejoining the Cubs in late July.
The 28-year-old played in 97 games in 2021, hitting .199/.276/.330 with eight home runs. He also went on the IL in August with a sprained right ankle.
Bote will likely will be in a utility role next season with versatility to play second and third. Nick Madrigal is penciled in as the starting second baseman and Nico Hoerner will also see time there.
