In this Mets post game news conference, Darin Ruf got word in the sixth inning that he would be going in to pitch the seventh as the Mets tried to save their bullpen, after Carlos Carrasco left with an injury after completing just two innings. With the score 13-1 Atlanta, Ruf, who had previously pitched when he was a member of the Giants, managed to escape his two-inning stint without allowing a run. Ruf: “Last time I was throwing too hard and I was throwing sinkers, so tonight I tried to throw slower and went with a cutter.”
