BOX SCORE

Probable starting pitchers: Tigers RHP Wily Peralta (4-4, 3.08 ERA) vs. White Sox RHP Lance Lynn (10-6, 2.72 ERA).

Game notes: Can the Tigers finish the 2021 season on a high note? They snapped a four-game skid with Thursday’s 10-7 comeback victory over the Twins in Minneapolis. The White Sox, meanwhile, have the playoffs on their mind; they’re two games back of the Astros for homefield advantage in their ALDS matchup. (The No. 1 spot in the AL is wrapped up by the Tampa Bay Rays, who will face the winner of the wild-card game next week … after the wild-card picture, which features four teams within three games for two spots, is cleared up.)

BAD BLOOD: Why Tigers, White Sox stormed the field Monday: ‘It wasn’t intentional’

Lynn, tonight’s starter for the ChiSox, has been, let’s say, effectively wild against the Tigers in his two starts against them. In 12 innings, Lynn has 15 strikeouts and two runs allowed (both earned) but has also given up eight hits and seven walks. Meanwhile, Friday will be Peralta’s first start against the Sox this season; he has a career 0.00 ERA at Guaranteed Rate Field, with four hits, three walks and five strikeouts over six innings.
