After Yankees RF Aaron Judge gave New York a one-run lead with a two-run double in the eighth inning Sunday at Fenway Park, DH Giancarlo Stanton put the Boston Red Sox down.

Continuing a trend from the three-game series’ first two results, Friday’s 8-3 win and Saturday’s 5-3 victory, Stanton’s two-run home run over the Green Monster put an exclamation mark on Sunday’s 6-3 comeback.

He homered in each of the Yankees’ three triumphs against the Red Sox and did not mince words when his latest moment tied everything together.

“It means a lot for me,” said Stanton, whose previous clutch moment was an eighth-inning grand slam Saturday with the Yankees down 2-1. “I mean, I put in a lot of work and time, study. Just this is my whole life. So, I mean, it’s good to be able to contribute and to just help the team out.”

Against the Red Sox this past weekend, Stanton went 7 for 12 (.583) with a trio of long balls and 10 RBI. Ask manager Aaron Boone, though, and the Yankees have seen Stanton come up big all season.

“I mean, obviously, this is Fenway Park and we’re battling with them. And these games are so big that maybe it’s to another level, but he’s been coming up big for us in big situations all year long,” Boone said of Stanton, who is slashing .277/.359/.520 with 34 home runs and 93 RBI through 133 games in 2021. “Obviously, he’s locked in right now and playing so well and he’s so focused. So I’m happy for him and proud of him, and love the fact that he’s in such a good place.”

“When it matters most, he puts on the best swing,” added 3B DJ LeMahieu.

With a one-game lead over the Red Sox (88-68) in the AL Wild Card standings, the Yankees (89-67) hope Stanton stays hot as an equally pivotal three-game series at the Toronto Blue Jays begins Tuesday. The Blue Jays (87-69) are a game behind the Red Sox and trail the Yankees by two entering this week.
