NEW YORK — The Giants acquired linebacker Isaiah Simmons from the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday in exchange for a seventh round pick in 2024.

Simmons, 25, had not realized his potential with the Cardinals as the No. 8 overall pick in the 2020 NFL draft.

But Arizona is rebuilding and eyeing the No. 1 pick in next spring’s draft, and the Giants need reinforcements in the middle to complement free-agent signing Bobby Okereke.

ESPN first reported the trade.
