Zaidi takes home MLB’s 2021 Executive of the Year award originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea

To absolutely nobody’s surprise, Giants president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi was officially named the recipient of MLB’s 2021 Executive of the Year award.

In his third season with San Francisco, Zaidi’s Giants won a franchise-best 107 games on their way to an NL West title.

Predicted by many to win somewhere around 70-75 games in 2021, it’s no surprise that Zaidi’s efforts in constructing this Giants team made him a shoo-in for the award.

The Giants and manager Gabe Kapler each released a statement Monday night congratulating Zaidi on the award.

“On behalf of the San Francisco Giants organization, we congratulate Farhan Zaidi on being named Major League Baseball’s 2021 Executive of the Year,” said Giants Chairman Greg Johnson. “This is a tremendous and well-deserved honor and a reflection of the talent, hard work and dedication of our entire baseball operations department. Farhan continues to strengthen our organization both on the field and in the front office and we are proud that his work is recognized by his peers throughout baseball.”

Zaidi’s commitment to cornerstone veterans such as Buster Posey, Brandon Crawford, and Brandon Belt played an integral role in the team’s success in 2021. His new-school, analytically driven baseball mind, and his ability to squeeze production out of undervalued, low-cost players took the Giants from a possible wild card contender to the best team in baseball.
