Giants top prospect Luciano obliterates third homer in AFL originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea

Turn the volume up.

There’s the crack of the bat, and then there’s the crack of the bat when Giants top prospect Marco Luciano gets a hold of one.

On Tuesday, the 20-year-old shortstop absolutely crushed a two-run shot off starting pitcher Zach Haake in the Arizona Fall League. Somehow, the deep fly wasn’t even the best part. Luciano might have just graduated from his teenage years two months ago, but he’s a veteran when it comes to bat flips.

Luciano’s long ball had a 106-mph exit velocity and traveled 411 feet, according to MLB Pipeline’s William Boor.

This was Luciano’s third home run in the fall league, where he’s playing for the Scottsdale Scorpions. The homer raised his batting average to .231. He’s the youngest player in the AFL this year and now has 12 RBI and this is his 20th game played.

While Luciano has three home runs in the desert, Tuesday was the first time he has gone deep since homering twice on Oct. 19

Though he has struggled at times, Luciano continues to flash his sky-high potential and has recognized how important facing this kind of competition is for his development.
