Giants’ San Jose, Eugene affiliates win minor league titles originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea

The Giants organization had a pretty good Friday night.

While the major league team was winning its 100th game of the season, two of San Francisco’s minor league affiliates won their league championships.

The San Jose Giants, in their first season as San Francisco’s Low-A affiliate after being the High-A affiliate, beat the Fresno Grizzlies 7-2 to sweep the Low-A West Championship Series.

Giants’ No. 3 prospect Luis Matos, 19, crushed a towering homer to power San Jose to the win.

Up in Oregon, the Giants’ new High-A Eugene Emeralds beat the Spokane Indians, 5-0, in Game 4 of the High-A West Championship Series.

Shortstop Marco Luciano, the 20-year-old top prospect in the Giants’ organization, went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer in the win.

Ryan Murphy, one of the breakout prospects for the Giants this season, allowed just two hits, walked two and struck out seven in five shutout innings.

While the present for the Giants appears to be in good hands, the future is very bright for the organization with Luciano and Matos helping lead their respective teams to championships.

If everything goes according to Farhan Zaidi’s plan, the two dynamic prospects will help lead the major league team to a few World Series titles in a couple years.
