Through 1 Quarter

The Atlanta Hawks are giving their home crowd exactly what it was hoping to see. They are way out in front after one quarter with a 32-20 lead over the Boston Celtics. Atlanta’s offense has come from several players so far.

The Hawks and Boston came into this matchup with previous-game wins. We’ll see if Atlanta can maintain their lead to polish off another win and cancel out Boston’s positive energy.

What to Know

The Atlanta Hawks will play host again and welcome the Boston Celtics to State Farm Arena, where tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the Hawks and Boston will really light up the scoreboard.

While not quite a landslide, the game between Atlanta and the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday was still a pretty decisive one as Atlanta wrapped it up with a 121-104 win at home. Shooting guard Bogdan Bogdanovic (18 points), center Onyeka Okongwu (18 points), and point guard Trae Young (17 points) were the top scorers for Atlanta.

Meanwhile, you can’t lose the matchup if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Boston’s strategy against Sacramento on Tuesday. The Celtics took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 128-75 victory over the Kings. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 63-30. Boston’s small forward Jayson Tatum did his thing and shot 7-for-14 from beyond the arc and finished with 36 points and six assists.

Barring any buzzer beaters, the Hawks are expected to win a tight contest. They are currently five-for-five against the spread in their most recent games, a trend bettors might want to take into account.

Their wins bumped Atlanta to 22-25 and the Celtics to 25-24. Watch the game and check back on CBS Sports to find out who keeps up the positive energy and who hits a stumbling block.
