Who’s Playing

Boston @ Detroit

Current Records: Boston 28-25; Detroit 12-39

What to Know

The Detroit Pistons are getting right back to it as they host the Boston Celtics at 7 p.m. ET Feb. 4 at Little Caesars Arena. Boston should still be riding high after a win, while the Pistons will be looking to right the ship.

The matchup between Detroit and the Minnesota Timberwolves on Thursday was not a total blowout, but with Detroit falling 128-117 at home, it was darn close to turning into one. Despite the loss, Detroit had strong showings from small forward Saddiq Bey, who almost dropped a triple-double on 21 points, 13 rebounds, and eight assists, and point guard Frank Jackson, who shot 5-for-11 from beyond the arc and finished with 25 points.

Meanwhile, even if it wasn’t a dominant performance, Boston beat the Charlotte Hornets 113-107 on Wednesday. Boston’s point guard Marcus Smart was one of the most active players for the squad, picking up 22 points and six assists.

The Pistons are expected to lose this next one by 7.5. They have failed bettors playing the spread in their past two games, so buyers beware.

Detroit is now 12-39 while the Celtics sit at 28-25. A couple stats to keep an eye on: Detroit has only been able to knock down 42.30% percent of their shots, which is the second lowest field goal percentage in the league. Boston’s defense has more to brag about, as they they have been holding their opponents to a field goal percentage of 43.60%, which places them second in the league. So the cards are definitely stacked in their favor.
