Here’s the latest on how the Yankees‘ top prospects are performing in the minors…
Aug. 30, 11:55 p.m.
Spencer Jones went deep for the first time with Double-A Somerset on Wednesday night. The Yankees‘ No. 1 prospect finished the game 1-for-4 but that lone hit was a grand slam. he also walked twice.
Since his promotion to Double-A, Jones is 3-for-12 with the one home run, four RBI, two walks and a stolen base.
Up in Triple-A, Jasson Dominguez went 1-for-4 with a walk and run while Austin Wells finished 0-for-4 with a walk. Both are reportedly being called up when the rosters expand on Friday.
Aug. 22, 9:44 p.m.
Jasson Dominguez made his Triple-A debut Tuesday night for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and had an impressive day.
The outfielder finished 3-for-6 with a run and three RBI. The big hit was a two-run single in the fourth inning to pick up his first Triple-A hit. He then doubled off the wall before hitting an RBI single in the sixth.
Estevan Florial went 1-for-4 with three RBI and two walks. Austin Wells finished 0-for-4 with two strikeouts.
Aug. 21, 6:00 p.m.
The Yankees are elevating outfielder Everson Pereira and third baseman Oswald Peraza from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre ahead of New York’s three-game series with the Washington Nationals, according to reports by YES Network’s Jack Curry and MLB.com’s Bryan Hoch.
The 22-year-old Pereira is the Yankees’ No. 3 prospect, according to MLB Pipeline. He is set to make his MLB debut after getting promoted from Double-A Somerset July 4. In 35 games for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Pereira slashed .312/.386/.551 with 10 eight home runs and 33 RBI.
Peraza, 23, last played for the Yankees July 26. Through his 19 games with New York, he has slashed .173/.328/.192 while adding six RBI.
Peraza has spent the bulk of the 2023 season with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, slashing .268/.357/.479 with 14 home runs, 15 stolen bases and 36 RBI in 63 games.
Additionally, top prospect Jasson Dominguez is being promoted from Double-A Somerset to Triple-A, according to Brendan Kuty of The Athletic. The 20-year-old, also known as “The Martian,” has 19 doubles, 15 homers and 37 stolen bases on the season.
Aug. 19, 7:45 p.m.
Everson Pereira continued his strong start with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, going 2-for-4 with a pair of solo home runs in Saturday afternoon’s 14-12 loss to the Worcester Red Sox.
The outfielder and No. 3 prospect in the Yanks system is now hitting .316 with a .938 OPS, eight homers, and 33 RBI through 34 games since receiving the promotion from Double-A.
Catcher Austin Wells also enjoyed a nice game at the plate for the RailRiders, driving in three runs on a pair of hits. The 24-year-old did, however, strike out four times on the day.
Oswald Peraza was the table-setter for the both of them out of the leadoff spot, reaching base three different times, including a pair of extra-base hits (home run and triple).
He also stole his 15th base and is now up to 14 homers, 36 RBI, and a .827 OPS on the year.
