With his contract up at season’s end, and coming off another season where the Mets missed the playoffs, it’s easy to see why Luis Rojas‘ job is in jeopardy.

Sandy Alderson insinuated on Wednesday that he would likely make the decision on whether Rojas stays or goes.

But Rojas is doing his best to not worry about his short-term future with the team, and said things will be just fine no matter where he is in 2022.

“I think everything’s going to be fine.,” Rojas told The Athletic. “I always think that way, regardless of what it is. That’s the approach you’ve got to take as a baseball family. I grew up in a baseball family, and I’ve always gotten the instruction how you can take some things.

“When I was on the player side, I got released three times. There was a lot of anxiety on my end when I got released. I wanted to represent the family, I wanted to represent the country. My approach now with the maturity level I carry is different. There’s no anxiety. There’s always to control what you can control and you’re going to be fine. Whatever happens, happens. I know I’m going to be fine.”

In his two seasons as Mets manager, Rojas owns a 101-117 record. The Mets missed the expanded postseason in 2020 and choked away their NL East this season lead and will finish under .500 again.

In recent weeks, Rojas has made some very bad in-game mistakes. But, as Alderson even noted Wednesday, Rojas has a strong relationship with many players in the clubhouse.

Rojas could manage his last home game on Thursday night against the Marlins at Citi Field, which will be followed by ending the year in Atlanta over the weekend.
