Who is starting for the Mets?
Jose Quintana takes the ball for New York in tonight’s series opener.
The veteran has been a beacon of consistency since making his orange and blue debut on back on July 20. He’s lasted at least six innings in every start since throwing just five while on a pitch count in his return.
Overall, Quintana’s pieced together six quality starts to go along with a 3.26 ERA, 1.34 WHIP, and 35 strikeouts.
His last time out he didn’t have his best stuff, but he battled and allowed just five hits while issuing three walks and striking out five across six shutout innings in a no-decision.
Who is starting for the Nationals?
Q and the Mets will be opposed by Washington’s Patrick Corbin (9-12, 4.90 ERA) in this one.
The left-hander had been pitching well of late for the Nationals, but struggled his last time out. He was tagged for six runs on ten hits across just five innings of work in a loss to the Blue Jays.
Corbin’s posted a 4.63 ERA and 1.28 WHIP across two outings against the Mets this season, but he’s recorded a win each time.
