Pete Alonso air guitar looking down home whites third base

Mets first baseman Pete Alonso was named a finalist for the All-MLB Team.

Alonso blasted 37 home runs and drove in 94 runs with an .863 OPS, all of which led the Mets this season. He also won a second consecutive Home Run Derby.

Alonso will go up against a crowded first baseman room that includes ALMVP finalist Vladimir Guerrero Jr., World Series champion Freddie Freeman, and AL batting champion Yuli Gurriel.

Alonso is the lone Mets representative in the awards for this year.

The All-MLB teams (First and Second) were introduced in 2019, with fans handling 50 percent of the voting, and an expert panel being responsible for the other half. Voting ends at 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 19.
