Takeaways from the game
1) Carlos Carrasco‘s trouble to begin games during his starts showed its face again. He allowed his five earned runs in the first two innings in this one, as Willy Adames hit a two-run jack in the bottom of the first and then Eduardo Escobar hit a two-run single after Christian Yelich got an RBI by grounding out to make it a 5-1 game. His ERA has now moved to 5.73 on the year.
2) Francisco Lindor hit a rocket solo homer in his first at-bat of the game, sending it over the right-center field fence to gain a quick Mets lead. But, as we saw above, it wouldn’t last long.
3) Javier Baez continues to finish the season strong, hitting a two-run double in the top of the fourth to get the Mets right back into the game.
4) After Kevin Pillar made it a one-run game in teh top of the fifth with an RBI single, the Brewers began pulling away. Adames picked up another RBI on a fielder’s choice with runners on second and third to make it 6-4 Milwaukee. Then, a rare throwing error from Lindor caused two runs to score to make it 8-4.
The Mets return home to start a new series with the Miami Marlins, starting with a doubleheader on Tuesday beginning at 4:10 p.m.
