When Krukow knew Giants were in ‘good hands’ with Zaidi originally appeared on NBC Sports Bayarea

With Farhan Zaidi steering the ship, the Giants have a very bright future ahead of them.

Leaving the Dodgers to join the Giants as the president of baseball operations in November of 2018, Zaidi has transformed the Giants into an MLB-best 107 win team after just two seasons.

More than deserving of the Executive of the Year award he won Monday night.

The Giants’ rebuild was quick, thanks in large part to the team Zaidi was able to build around aging stars such as Buster Posey, Brandon Crawford, Brandon Belt and Evan Longoria.

Giants broadcaster Mike Krukow joined KNBR’s Murph & Mac Tuesday, where he discussed Zaidi’s award and when he knew the Giants were headed in the right direction.

“He’ll be quite proud of that, that’s an accomplishment,” Krukow said. “All of us who follow the Giants, we’re all aware of what Farhan has done. Because of what he’s done and how he’s done it, we all just think ‘man, thank you, Larry Baer.’ That must have been the sales pitch of the decade in order to bring him from the Dodgers to the Giants, and thank you for doing it.”

“We all feel we’re in good hands with Farhan at the helm. It didn’t take three years for us to feel that way. We felt that after the first year. We felt this organization is going places. Look what he’s done not just on the big league field, but look what’s happened in the minor leagues. The people that have been brought in, the responsibility they’ve been given. You just have a leader at the helm, and for him to be recognized as the Executive of the Year, I thought it was an obvious decision.”

Zaidi, who already has a decorated baseball resume, is just 45-years-old, and Krukow believes more awards are in his future.

“I think the award will be on a wall or in a trophy case and guess what, I think he’ll be adding to it,” Krukow added.

Executive of the Year has a nice ring to it, but I’m sure Farhan will agree that “World Series Champion” sounds better.
