Sunday, Sept. 26, the second-to-last regular-season Sunday, has a mix of slates and formats depending on the DFS site of choice. Let’s get into the top MLB DFS picks for pitchers and stacks for Yahoo, DraftKings and FanDuel daily fantasy baseball lineups.

MLB DFS Picks: Spotlight Pitchers and Top Stacks, Sunday, Sept. 26

Yahoo Stack of the Day: Toronto Blue Jays at RHP Griffin Jax — 5.4 implied runs

This has been a rough season for Griffin Jax, who has been saddled with a 6.75 ERA in 72 innings. In his 16 outings he has allowed home runs in 14, including six multi-home-run games. Batters from both sides of the plate have crushed the ball, with a .287 ISO to righties and a .296 ISO to lefties. Load up on the Blue Jays today.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. ($27) is at the top of the salary sheet, and considering he is around the top of the league in home runs, hits and RBIs, this is appropriate. Marcus Semien ($27) is at the same salary, and while he does not have the same level of production as Guerrero, he is one of the best at his position, and this lofty tag will keep the masses at bay.

Lefty Corey Dickerson ($10) should be in the lineup, which will average down the overall salary cap hit from Toronto. Leadoff man George Springer ($13) is seeing a 20 to 30% discount today. Teoscar Hernandez ($23) is the other notable hitter, and he continues to be overlooked despite being third in MLB with 111 RBIs and posting a career-best 31 home runs and .302 average.

Main Slate

Cincinnati Reds vs. LHP Josh Rogers — 5.5 implied runs

While Josh Rogers was a prospect of note half a decade ago, ultimately Tommy John surgery derailed things back in 2019. He was hammered in Triple-A when he returned and has been getting by with smoke and mirrors since. In his four starts he has faced Miami twice and Pittsburgh and the Mets once each, which are barely replacement-level offenses.

The Reds should use a nearly full lineup of righties this afternoon. Nick Castellanos and Jonathan India are the priority plays. Tyler Stephenson helps take care of the catcher requirement, and he should be in the middle of the order. Kyle Farmer rounds out core options, and even though he is having by far the worst season of his career, hitting .188, he still has power when he connects, with 28 home runs.

Spotlight Pitchers

Top MLB DFS Picks Target: RHP Tyler Mahle vs. Washington Nationals — 4.1 implied runs

This has been another excellent season for Tyler Mahle. In his last 22 starts he has a 3.47 ERA, 3.85 FIP, a 12% swinging strike rate and 10.4 strikeouts per nine innings. While Great American Ballpark is a hitting upgrade for the Nationals, they still only have Juan Soto and Josh Bell as their worrisome hitters.

Secondary MLB DFS Picks Target: LHP John Means vs. Texas Rangers — 4.1 implied runs

John Means is a solid lefty with an excellent changeup. However, he tends to be lumped in with the rest of the disaster that is the Baltimore starting rotation, so he is mostly guilty by association despite being a serviceable starter. However, Sunday he is facing the Rangers, who are the worst team in the league against lefties, creating runs 26% less efficiently than league average.

Wild Card MLB DFS Picks Target: RHP Shane Baz vs. Miami Marlins — 3.0 implied runs

Rookie Shane Baz will be making his second start in the majors. He is a top-three prospect in the Tampa Bay organization, and his fastball can flirt with 100 mph. In his debut on Monday he struck out five Toronto hitters in five innings, allowing just two hits, and though they were home runs, he kept the bases clean the rest of the time. In that outing he threw an efficient 65 pitches, so he likely has a soft cap somewhere around 70 to 75 pitches or five innings, whichever comes first against the anemic Marlins offense.

Final Thoughts for the Sunday, Sept. 26 MLB DFS Picks Slate

All eyes are on the NFL this Sunday, so be sure to register early for the MLB contests ,which are smaller but still available on all the DFS sites.
