Kodai Senga is one of the most intriguing pitchers available in the 2022-23 MLB free agent class. The Boston Red Sox reportedly are one of several teams in the mix for the Japanese right-hander.

MLB Network’s Jon Morosi identifies the Red Sox, Los Angeles Angels, and Toronto Blue Jays as three of the clubs showing interest in Senga with the winter meetings underway in San Diego, Calif.

The Red Sox had been rumored to be one of the teams in contact with Senga’s representatives. Despite their apparent interest, Senga has not yet visited the club during his free agency tour. The Boston Globe’s Alex Speier reports Senga has met with a number of other teams including the San Francisco Giants, New York Mets, Texas Rangers, and San Diego Padres.

Senga went 11-6 with a 1.89 ERA in 2022 with the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks in the Nippon Professional League while tallying 158 strikeouts in 148 innings pitched. The 29-year-old is not attached to posting fees or draft pick compensation.
