Sox, Orioles to play in 2022 Little League Classic originally appeared on NBC Sports Boston

The Boston Red Sox will head to Williamsport, PA. next year for the 2022 MLB Little League Classic.

Major League Baseball announced Sunday the Red Sox and Baltimore Orioles will take part in the annual tradition. The game will take place Sunday, Aug. 21, 2022 at 7 p.m. ET and serve as a home game for Baltimore.

The Red Sox and Orioles were chosen to play in the 2020 Little League Classic, but it was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Los Angeles Angels and Cleveland Indians participated in the 2021 event.

The Little League Classic began in 2017 as an effort to get kids interested and involved in baseball at a younger age. The event coincides with the Little League World Series, which begins every August in Williamsport.
