What you need to know about the Rockets

Houston is coming off a 123-120 loss to San Antonio on Monday night, but the Rockets are still in one of their best stretches of the season. They have won three of their last five games, including consecutive wins against Portland over the weekend. Rookie guard Jalen Green has reached the 30-point mark twice this month, including Monday’s game against the Spurs

Green, who was the second overall pick in the 2021 draft, is averaging 19.7 points, 3.7 rebounds and 3.3 assists since the All-Star break. The Rockets are playing without center Christian Wood, who is out indefinitely due to a hamstring injury. Houston is 12-1 in its last 13 home games against Sacramento.

What you need to know about the Kings

Sacramento is near Houston at the bottom of the Western Conference standings, but the Kings are in decent form as well. They have won two of their last three games, picking up road wins over Indiana and Orlando. Sacramento will be wrapping up a five-game road trip when it faces Houston again on Friday night.

The Kings are without star point guard De’Aaron Fox for the remainder of the season due to a hand injury, which has led to an increased role for rookie point guard Davion Mitchell. He is averaging 21.6 points and 7.2 assists in five games without Fox on the court. Sacramento is also missing big man Domantas Sabonis due to a knee injury.
