Javier Baez waiting on pitch in Miami August 2021

Javier Baez waiting on pitch in Miami August 2021

Though no decision has been made, there is still a chance Javier Baez and Francisco Lindor could make their returns from injury on Sunday against the Dodgers, Luis Rojas said Saturday afternoon.

Lindor hasn’t played July 16. Baez has been out since Aug. 10. The two star infielders haven’t played together once since Baez came to the Mets.

“We’ll see,” said Rojas. “Today’s a big day. … There is a possibility, but we’re not sure yet. This went from week-to-week to day-to-day. We’ll see how the player feels, then we’ll make the decision.”

Rojas added that Lindor is going to face live pitching Saturday, and that both of the players have been taking ground balls and running bases.

The Mets are scheduled to play the Dodgers on Sunday at 4:10 p.m.
