Who’s Playing

Los Angeles @ San Antonio

Current Records: Los Angeles 1-2; San Antonio 1-2

What to Know

The Los Angeles Lakers have enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they must head out on the road. They will take on the San Antonio Spurs at 8:30 p.m. ET Tuesday at AT&T Center. The Lakers should still be riding high after a victory, while San Antonio will be looking to regain their footing.

Things were close when Los Angeles and the Memphis Grizzlies clashed on Sunday, but Los Angeles ultimately edged out the opposition 121-118. Los Angeles’ power forward Carmelo Anthony was one of the most active players for the team, shooting 6-for-8 from downtown and finishing with 28 points.

Meanwhile, San Antonio came up short against the Milwaukee Bucks this past Saturday, falling 121-111. San Antonio’s defeat came about despite a quality game from small forward Doug McDermott, who shot 7-for-11 from beyond the arc and finished with 25 points.

Los Angeles is the favorite in this one, with an expected 4.5-point margin of victory. But bettors beware: they are 0-2 against the spread when favored.

The Lakers’ win brought them up to 1-2 while the Spurs’ loss pulled them down to an identical 1-2. A pair of defensive stats to keep in the back of your head while watching: Los Angeles is stumbling into the contest with the third most points allowed per game in the league, having given up 118 on average. San Antonio has experienced some struggles of their own as they have allowed their opponents to shoot 48.20% from the floor on average, which is the third highest shooting percentage allowed in the league. It’s possible one of these Achilles’ heels will wind up tripping the losing team up.
