A bettor at BetMGM has some serious confidence in the Astros‘ ability to win the World Series.

Someone placed a $145,000 bet on the Astros at -145 to win their second World Series in five seasons. That bet would return $100,000 if Houston beats Atlanta.

The Astros are significant favorites over the Braves (+120) to win the World Series and are also favored to win Game 1. The Astros are 0-3 in franchise history in World Series Game 1 but are 1.5-run favorites Tuesday night. The Astros are +150 to cover the spread and -135 to win Game 1 straight up. Atlanta is -185 to cover the 1.5-run spread and +115 to win Game 1 straight up.

Bettors like the Braves

The big bet on the Astros has helped tip the handle in favor of Houston. Two-thirds of the money bet on the World Series so far is on Houston despite more bets being on the Braves. The public likes the Braves so far as 57% of bets are on Atlanta.

MVP odds

The big number of Braves World Series bets means that Freddie Freeman is the most-bet player to win World Series MVP. The Atlanta first baseman has gotten 17.6% of MVP wagers and those wagers make up 17.7% of the money.

Freeman (+1100) is the No. 5 favorite to win MVP and is the top Braves player on the board. Six of the top seven players in MVP odds all play for the Astros.

Jose Altuve (+900) is the favorite and he’s followed closely by Michael Brantley and Yordan Alvarez at +100. Alex Bregman is at +1100 along with Freeman and Carlos Correa is at +1200 and Kyle Tucker is at +1400. The Braves’ No. 2 MVP contender is Eddie Rosario at +1400 and pitcher Max Fried is at +1600.
