For most of us, the 2023 NBA draft is among the furthest things from our minds, but draft analysts tend to get started months ahead of the rest of us. This is why Bleacher Report’s Jonathan Wasserman has a full, two-round mock draft ready to go before the month of December has even arrived.

In that mock, the Boston Celtics have only one pick, currently projected to go dead last at No. 60 overall. With the last pick of the 2023 draft, Wasserman sees the Celtics going for some additional wing depth with University of Southern California small forward Drew Peterson.

“With the offense running through Peterson,” writes Wasserman, “the 23-year-old senior is making a late NBA case by showcasing unique playmaking ability … for a 6’9″ forward to complement some shooting range and post scoring skill.”

Putting up 15 points, 8.1 boards, 6.6 assists, and just under a steal per contest while shooting 37.9% from deep presents an unusual skillset indeed, and as such Peterson certainly ought to be on Boston’s radar should he be available when the Celtics are on the clock.
