SATURDAY’S GAME: Cunningham delivers Pistons’ first win, 110-103, despite scoring struggles

PISTONS STOCK WATCH: This team might have a new best player

Game notes: 2021 No. 1 overall pick Cade Cunningham finally made his NBA debut for the Pistons on Saturday. It wasn’t exactly smooth, with just two points on 1-for-8 shooting, but Cunningham also had seven rebounds and a pair of assists in 19 minutes, as the Pistons picked up their first win of the season (in five tries). And now, on to Brooklyn! The Nets entered the season as a favorite to win the East, but Kyrie Irving’s refusal to get vaccinated — hey, maybe he and Tyler Bertuzzi can FaceTime! — has left them shorthanded and 3-3 so far. Still, Kevin Durant enters Sunday averaging 28.5 points, and James Harden and LaMarcus Aldridge (plus ex-Pistons Bruce Brown and Blake Griffin) are pretty solid second options.
