Boston Celtics President of Basketball Operations Brad Stevens held a press conference on Wednesday afternoon to put the Celtics’ loss to the Miami Heat in the 2023 East finals some context ahead of a busy offseason to address the team’s shortcomings in that loss.

Stevens evaluated Celtics head coach Joe Mazzula’s performance last season, lauding his accomplishments despite being thrust into the job right before the regular season as part of the fallout of the Ime Udoka scandal. The Celtics president believes the team needs to work on improvement and make small tweaks to reach their goals amid clamor from fans for big changes.

The looming extension of Jaylen Brown and the free agency of Grant Williams also came up with several other important topics regarding how the team will build on what they have learned about the team in the coming season.
