The Knicks got back in the win column on Wednesday with a 128-98 win over the Portland Trail Blazers.

Here are the takeaways…

– Both teams exchanged bricks in the first couple minutes, combining to miss nine of their first 11 field goals – they then made six of their next seven. After missing their first three from behind the arc, RJ Barrett and Evan Fournier hit six of their next nine three-pointers as the Knicks got up to a 35-25 lead. Barrett finished the quarter with 14 points, knocking down four threes, while Julius Randle dished out six assists with the Knicks leading by eight to close to quarter.

– The Knicks played at a slower pace in the second quarter, taking just nine shots in the first seven minutes – six of them were in the paint, with five of them going in. New York only took three three-pointers in the quarter, but Barrett kept cooking, scoring seven more points in the quarter, giving him 21 in the half. The Knicks also had 18 assists in the half, with Randle and Fournier combining for 11 of them. The Knicks led 66-55 at the half.

– The Knicks increased their lead to 17 points in the third. However, Portland was able to rally and cut their deficit to eight points, prompting a Tom Thibodeau timeout. The timeout proved worthy, and the Knicks then got their lead back up to 20, their biggest up to that point. The Knicks went 5-for-9 from long range in the third, and Barrett scored another eight points, bringing his total to 29 through three.

Obi Toppin was up to his old tricks, getting the Garden crowd on its feet with a few thunderous slams. The Knicks continued to dominate in the second half, shooting at a 57.9 percent clip in the fourth (11-for-19), their best mark of any quarter in this one, and finished with a 128-98 win.

Immanuel Quickley was a sparkplug off the bench, netting 18 points in 25 minutes. He connected on all three of his shots from downtown.

– Randle was unable to get anything going from the floor (5-for-18, 0-for-5 from three, but did connect on 10 of his 12 free throws. He finished with 20 points, nine boards, and seven assists.

– Barrett finished the night with 31 points, his ninth 30-plus point effort of the season. He knocked down five three-pointers, while Fournier hit four. As a team, the Knicks shot at an even 50 percent clip (40-for-80), and hit 16 of their 38 three-pointers (42.1 percent).
