Michael Johnson, son of Turner Sports broadcaster Ernie Johnson has died, his father posted on social media Friday. He was 33.

Adopted from Romania in 1991, Michael was born with duchenne muscular dystrophy. “We lost michael johnson today and we’re crushed,” Ernie Johnson shared on Instagram Friday. “But we also know we’ll see him again…and that sustains us.”

Turner Sports released the following statement on the passing of Johnson’s son:

“We are heartbroken over the passing of Cheryl and Ernie’s beloved son, Michael, a true hero who uplifted and brought joy to everyone he touched. The family’s love, faith and commitment to one another will forever be an inspiration to us. Our deepest condolences are with Cheryl, Ernie and their family, friends and loved ones as we mourn with them.”

Johnson has been the host of TNT’s “Inside the NBA” since 1990. The league also sent the Johnson family condolences Saturday in a statement on social media.
