Welcome to the NBA GPP Pivots article, where we’ll be looking to uncover some sneaky-good DFS plays away from the popular selections. These recommendations are usually risk/reward commodities meant to be used in large-field tournaments. Typically, blending these low-owned hidden gems with well-aligned staples contributes to a viable GPP strategy.

Keep in mind that the following player write-ups were constructed earlier in the day, and sometimes injury/rest situations can alter the fantasy landscape. Monitoring our NBA News & Headlines Feed throughout the day will keep you in the loop while giving you the subsequent DFS consequences of each information piece.

We will be looking at Tuesday’s five-game main slate starting at 7:30 ET.

POINT GUARD

Kevin Porter Jr. – Houston (at Dallas)

Porter has been all over the map for fantasy purposes this season. That’s going to happen quite a bit this year, as Houston runs the risk of a blowout against quality opponents. That sentiment will have DFS enthusiasts steering clear of Porter tonight, but don’t forget that he has legitimate 50 FP upside if things are falling his way. If the Rockets can keep this one close, then Porter could play a big part in that as their top playmaker.

SHOOTING GUARD

Seth Curry – Philadelphia (at NY Knicks)

The “other” Curry has come through with back-to-back 36+ fantasy point outings after a 13 FP clunker to start the season. Like most shooters, Curry has a wide range of fantasy outcomes that depends on knocking down long jumpers. However, he has plenty of confidence in his shooting stroke at the moment. With Ben Simmons still out and Joel Embiid questionable, Curry could be asked to take more shots in this tight battle with the Knicks.

SMALL FORWARD

Josh Giddey – Oklahoma City (vs. Golden State)

Giddy isn’t a name that will jump off the screen for DFS purposes, but I believe the Australian rookie has some interesting upside. Sunday’s game was the first time OKC wasn’t truly blown out this season, so we caught a glimpse into their preferred rotation. Giddy came through with 49 fantasy points in 33 minutes. Of course, there’s more blowout risk tonight, and the Thunder’s rotation is hardly set in stone. However, Giddy has upside if he can keep that momentum and OKC makes things interesting.

POWER FORWARD

Aaron Gordon – Denver (at Utah)

I believe Gordon is too cheap, especially on FanDuel. He’s seeing 30 minutes per contest, and he’s not going to provide a fantasy score that hurts your team for the underpriced salary. The matchup at Utah is hardly desirable, but Gordon makes for a serviceable filler to help you reach for upside at other positions.

CENTER

Hassan Whiteside – Utah (vs. Denver)

Whiteside isn’t going to see a ton of minutes, but he is always super-efficient. That has carried into the start of this season for his new club. Whiteside is averaging an acceptable 25 FPPG mark through two games, and there’s a chance they’ll need his size to help counter Nikola Jokic tonight. Once again, on a night without a ton of value, Whiteside could serve as a bargain bin option.
