The Philadelphia 76ers needed their superstar big man to step up to the challenge on the road on Wednesday night. The Sixers were looking to start this grueling stretch off on the right note as they took on the Cleveland Cavaliers on the road and the big fella answered the call.
Once again, Joel Embiid was terrific. The MVP candidate poured in 36 points with 18 rebounds and four blocks as the Sixers walked away with a 118-109 win over the Cavs. They now own the tiebreaker over Cleveland as they continue to work their way up the standings in the East. The big fella shot 12-for-19 from the floor and he made all 10 of his free throws.
James Harden added 28 points, 12 assists, and six rebounds, Tyrese Maxey had 23, Shake Milton had 11, and Georges Niang added eight. It was a big win for the Sixers in Cleveland.

Joel Embiid recorded his 24th 35-point game this season, the most in a season by a center since Moses Malone’s 25 in 1981-82. Malone won MVP that very season. pic.twitter.com/o7DKYMHoJq

A dominant performance by Joel Embiid not only helps Philadelphia keep pace with Boston for the second seed, but it also virtually locks up third ahead of Cleveland. Embiid finishes with 36 and 18 on 12-19 shooting.

The Sixers caught a break but it doesn’t take away from an absolute monster two-way night for Joel Embiid. James Harden was also quite good in the fourth, a pattern the Sixers would like to see continue in big games.
