Brooklyn Nets wing Cam Johnson came to Brooklyn in the Kevin Durant trade and was billed to be a 3-and-D type of player. The way that Johnson played after getting to the Nets is the reason why he is a free-agent target of the Detroit Pistons, according to James Edwards of The Athletic.

Edwards appeared on the HoopsHype podcast with Michael Scotto this week to discuss everything going on with the Pistons. Among topics that were discussed such as the hiring of Monty Williams as head coach and what players Detroit is targeting in the 2023 NBA Draft, Edwards and Scotto also discussed the players that the Pistons will be pursuing in free-agency.

While Detroit’s main free-agent target is Portland Trail Blazers’ wing Jerami Grant, Edwards pointed out that he believes that the Pistons will throw an offer sheet at Johnson. Johnson is currently a restricted free-agent so teams like the Pistons can offer him a contract, but Brooklyn has the right to match the offer to keep Johnson in Brooklyn.
