Detroit Pistons second-round pick Balsa Koprivica on Monday signed a three-year contract with KK Partizan in Belgrade, Serbia, the team announced.

Koprivica, who was born in Belgrade, was the 57th overall pick last month after playing the past two seasons with Florida State. He averaged 9.1 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.4 blocked shots in 24 games last season with the Seminoles.

The 21-year-old most recently played with the Pistons in the Las Vegas Summer League, totaling just three points, seven rebounds and one block in two appearances. He previously was teammates with Pistons guard Cade Cunningham at the Montverde Academy.

The Pistons will retain his draft rights should he return to play in the NBA.

The contract signed by Koprivica could include an NBA out clause, although it is not known if that is the case. The Pistons already have 16 players signed to guaranteed contracts next season so it was likely expected Koprivica would play overseas.

The opportunity to play in Serbia could be a valuable experience for Koprivica to continue his development. He could eventually make the transition to the NBA in a year or two after a solid collegiate career with the Seminoles.
