Barnes finished the contest by shooting 9-of-17 from the field, while also adding one assist and one steal in 35 minutes of work in the 97-94 win. He scored 11 points alone in the fourth quarter to help Toronto pull out the narrow win on the road.
He recently became just the second rookie in Raptors franchise history to record 100 points through his first six games, joining Damon Stoudamire, who was the 1995-96 NBA Rookie of the Year.
With his latest performance, Barnes is averaging 18.1 points, 8.9 rebounds and two assists with the Raptors. He leads all rookie players in scoring, rebounding and is tied with Evan Mobley of the Cleveland Cavaliers for the most double-doubles.
Barnes’ rookie campaign is certainly off to a remarkable start, and the Raptors have benefitted as a result. He will be in the conversation for Rookie of the Year if he can continue this production.
