First Oklahoma City Thunder Chet Holmgren went down hurt playing in Jamal Crawford’s Seattle-area CrawsOver Pro-Am with a season-ending injury before he ever even had a chance to step on an NBA court as a player. Soon after, Boston Celtics veteran forward Danilo Gallinari avoided an ACL tear with a scary injury in FIBA qualifier play that still turned out to be a torn meniscus that will have him off of the court until at least November.

Even Dallas Mavericks star Luka Doncic looked like he might have hurt himself for a moment in a FIBA qualifier right on the heels of Gallo’s injury, raising the question yet again of whether teams ought to let their players play basketball in other leagues and contexts (they should, they are going to be playing it somewhere – ed.).

The hosts of the Fox Sports “Odd Couple” radio show debated whether it would be a good idea to ban players from non-NBA activities in the offseason in light of this recent spate of injuries.
