The Phoenix Suns are in the process of finalizing a trade that will land them three-time All-Star guard Bradley Beal from the Washington Wizards. This trade may not result in an NBA championship or even a finals appearance for them, but it will make the race for Western Conference supremacy more interesting.
Chris Paul, who has been their starting point guard for the last three seasons, is involved in the trade, and the thinking was that the Wizards would waive him, paving the way for him to join the Los Angeles Lakers.
But now there is an increasing feeling that the Los Angeles Clippers will instead end up with the 38-year-old future Hall of Famer. ESPN’s Brian Windhorst reported that Paul could be re-routed to them in the Beal deal.
If not, Windhorst said the Clippers would be the favorites to land Paul via free agency if he is waived or stretched by his next team.
Chris Paul and the Clippers have mutual interest in reuniting, per @WindhorstESPN:
– Clippers, not the Lakers, are favorites to acquire Paul.
– Wizards and Clippers already in discussions on potential CP3 trade package.
– Another team could become involved to help take on… pic.twitter.com/y6O6lvYmwW

If Paul does end up with the Clippers, the Lakers will have to go back to the drawing board if they still want to chase their dream of acquiring a third star.
