PHILADELPHIA — The Philadelphia 76ers have big names on their roster such as Joel Embiid and James Harden. Embiid is one of the top five players in the game, and Harden has built a surefire Hall of Fame resume. He has built a case to be considered one of the best players in the history of the NBA.

Then there’s Tobias Harris. He is the one guy on the roster who has made adjustments almost every year to fit Philadelphia’s changing needs of him, and he does it without complaint or fussing.

He is the No. 4 option on this roster when everybody is healthy, but with the Sixers dealing with a spate of injuries as of late, he has become the No. 2 and sometimes No. 1 option. Then, he has to slide back to No. 4 when Tyrese Maxey comes back from his injury.

“That’s just my job,” Harris acknowledged. “Whatever role I’m put into, I embrace it, and just be a professional about it, and just do whatever I can to help the group. That’s what I’m here to do, and for me, I’m important to this whole group and how talented we are when we have everybody. As long as we get everybody healthy and continue to have this rhythm and this vibe, it’s good for the whole team.”

A lot of critics want to look at Harris’ contract, and it’s understandable, but the Sixers need the veteran out of Tennessee. He’s the team’s glue.

“Tobias is just solid for us,” said coach Doc Rivers. “You need guys like that on good basketball teams. He’s had the ability to score 25 and 30, he scores 13 or 14, and does other things. He’s been really, really important for this team.”
