From the moment he signed a below-market deal with the Boston Celtics by agreeing to play for the team on their mini- mid-level exception of $5.9 million, it was clear that veteran point guard Dennis Schroder was going to be an important part of the Celtics’ rotation — and among the NBA’s best values doing so at that.

Fast forward to over a month into the 2021-22 NBA season and you will see now that the German floor general has become a critical part of the team’s play on both ends of the floor, but particularly in late-game offense, an area where the Celtics have struggled so far this season.

Just how important is Schroder to Boston’s fortunes this season? The crew over at the CLNS Media podcast “The Garden Report” dive into this very question in their most recent episode, and have plenty to say about the good that comes with the Schroder signing, as well as the bad.
