“It’s disappointing to have such a high after the last game to come out like we did today,” admitted Boston Celtics reserve guard Derrick White after Boston’s 106-94 loss to the Phoenix Suns on Friday night via CLNS Media.

The Celtics, perhaps still reminiscing about their 136-96 demolition of the Brooklyn Nets two days prior, got punched in the mouth early against the Suns, and neither their ostensibly Most Valuable Player candidate Jayson Tatum nor the team’s bench offered much resistance. “We had similar looks, we just didn’t make them,” explained the Colorado native. “We just couldn’t get over the hump, we cut it to (a 1-point deficit).”

“We’ve just got to continue to play, continue to get the good looks, and just trust that it will eventually turn,” he added, perhaps referencing how the Suns managed to force Boston into ISO play more often than the Celtics typically would have liked to, keeping the game’s pace a slower, halfcourt one that played to Phoenix’s strengths.

“That group that was in there was playing hard and getting to the loose balls,” offered White, a nod to the Suns’ second unit outhustling the Boston bench and starters both.

“We’ve got to get back to what we were doing,” emphasized the Colorado alum.
