What can the early signs of the Boston Celtics‘ 2022-23 NBA season tell us about the future? With a historic offense, a decent defense, a likely candidate for the 2023 Kia Most Valuable Player award, and perhaps multiple Defensive Player of the Year candidates on a roster that is as deep as any in the league, we know this won’t be a bad ball club.

But which trends are real? Which ones are concerning? And what about Boston’s peers around the league who will be coming for the Celtics this season? Is it too soon to call Boston the outright favorites to win it all in 2023?

The hosts of the CLNS Media “Celtics Lab” podcast linked up with NBC Sports Boston’s Chris Forsberg to try and make sense of what we have been seeing in the interest of not letting recency bias give us the wrong idea about so much that’s going on in the NBA right now.
