Game notes: The Red Wings and Leafs met in November, with Toronto winning, 4-2. Auston Matthews scored and had an assist for the Leafs, and Matt Murray made 42 saves. Mo Seider matched Matthews’ totals in the loss. The Wings are back on the road after going 1-2 on a three-game homestand; they’re still looking for their first win of 2023 after losing to the Florida Panthers, 3-2, on Friday. Toronto is on a rare two-game losing streak, falling to St. Louis (in overtime) and Seattle. The Leafs are second in the Atlantic Division at 53 points, well ahead of the Wings’ 39 points.
