The NHL has a new iron man.
Former Ranger and current Philadelphia Flyer Keith Yandle played in his 965th consecutive game on Tuesday night against the Islanders, setting a new NHL record.
The previous record was held by Doug Jarvis, who played in 964 straight games from 1975 into 1987 with Montreal, Washington, and Hartford.
Yandle’s streak began on March 26, 2009 with the then-Phoenix Coyotes and continued through his time with the Rangers, Florida Panthers, and now the Flyers.
Traded to the Rangers in the middle of the 2015 season, Yandle suited up in 103 straight regular season games as a Ranger, recording eight goals and 57 assists.
Overall, Yandle has appeared in 1,075 regular season NHL games, totaling 102 goals and 511 assists.
